Cycling and Fashion in Love

I am always one to wear a helmet, no matter what the situation. When you’re cycling, you have to take into consideration all elements, from weather to cars to drivers not paying attention and so on. Therefore, a helmet is an inexpensive hedge fund for your head.

I have found ways to make my helmet my fashion statement. Matching helmet, jacket, pedals and graphics on the bike are always a good start. The helmet can be a fashion accessory. It is! The helmet you wear says so much about you! Do you wear an old beat up $30 helmet? Or is your Crown of Polystyrene the top of the line, lightest and most beautiful available?

Humberto Leon, a co-owner of the bi-coastal retail destination Opening Ceremony and a designer for the store's eponymous label, was recently featured on the NYC indie fashion site Refinery 29. And what does that have to do with cycling? He says, “I just bought my first bicycle helmet and its white, fluorescent pink, and electric blue. I ride my bike daily in the city, and I have recently found that bike helmets look cool. A suit and a bike helmet is a great look."

Yes! Thank you Mr Leon! I always thought people without helmets look like they’re missing something, and I do agree, helmets look cool!
