Mountain Bike Fashion @ NORBA National Round #1

One thing a cyclist can truly love about Los Angeles is the fact that you can ride the train to the NORBA National race.

And what’s even more to love is the fact that even the luxury MetroLink trains have bike racks. So I was able to rack the bike, and enjoy the ride, pondering the state of fashion and mountain biking.
The sun was not shining in Fontana, making it a cool day. Great for racing, but spectating was a little chilly. The Pro women were looking great on their first National outing.
I was particularly impressed with VanderKitten’s kit- pink and plaid, a gorgeous mod design!
Next is Gary Fisher’s team kit, new for 2008, check out Heather Irmiger before the start.  Gary Fisher is the Andy Warhol of cycling- a forward thinking man who has embraced women in cycling, and has continually supported women in the sport, whether the top pros or neophytes. he has a great appreciation of women, and style, and design, and is an incredible artist.  This year’s kit is an offset asymetrical strawberries and cream ensemble... tasty!

Joy Deurksen, Pro for Cole Wheels/mtbchick.com sports the new ocean blue, a popular color on the runways this year, alongside Mo Kunz of Lost Coast Brewery.

Finally, our fashion faux pas with our favorite Dickie’s Onesie wearing mechanic.  Chris Davidson is a great coach and manager, but here’s hoping we can find him a new apparel sponsor. Fox? Oakley?

Much love,
